My Story:
When I moved to the small town of Breckenridge, Colorado in 1999, I quickly learned that winter sports dictate training here. So, as an avid runner, I took up snowshoeing as a way to cross train for my summer sports and get outside in the elements that I really loved. My dog, Montana (a red Husky) and I like to spend our time together snowshoeing ... she, bounding in the snow, and me, tromping as best I can to keep up with her. Snowshoeing continues to give me a way to escape the hustle and bustle of our busy ski community and head into the hills. One of my favorite things to do is to get out right after a big storm and make new tracks on my favorite routes. For me, snowshoeing is now a sport within itself, and I enjoy the time I get to spend 'shoeing and racing. In my opinion, there's no better way to boost your heartrate to the max than a fast, uphill snowshoe race start!
